Why #Projekt1514?

During the game teasers some of you might have wondered what Projekt1514 stood for? The Bandai Namco marketing team have agreed to reveal the mystery behind this word.

“We wanted a specific word that was connected to the series, but which, at the same time, was quite vague and not instantly recognizable as Sword Art Online.”

“Fans of the series are aware that Sword Art Online II has connections to the German language. Indeed, the villain in this anime season is “Sterben”, a German word that means “to die”. Furthermore, the game was first announced at Gamescom a well-known German trade fair for video games. It was clear for us that the word should be “Projekt” and not “Project”.

“As for the number 1514, it is actually the numerical representation of SAO. S is the 15th consonant of the alphabet, A is the 1st vowel and O is the 4th vowel.”
